We will kick off our congress with two inspiring lectures in English! Join us to hear a speech by a staff member from our Institute of Sociology at the Jagiellonian University and our guest speaker from the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS):
Dr Ewa Krzaklewska - researcher at the Institute of Sociology, Jagiellonian University, and Chair of the Sociology of Youth and Education Section of the Polish Sociological Association. Her research interests include topics related to processes of entering adulthood, educational mobility and migration, as well as family sociology and gender equality.
Dr Jérémy Geeraert is a researcher at the Centre for Sociological Research on Criminal Law and Institutions in Paris and a guest researcher at the Institute of European Ethnology at Humboldt University in Berlin. His research interests include European migration policy, access to health care for migrants and the criminalisation of migration and solidarity towards migrants.
The first lecture, entitled. "Supporting women refugees from Ukraine - state policy and grassroot mobilisation in Poland', will be given by Ewa Krzaklewska, PhD. It will look at state policy and social initiatives aimed at refugee women from Ukraine.
The second lecture, to be given by Jérémy Geeraert, is entitled "Bio- and necropolitics of migration. What qualitative sociology teaches us about the transformation of migration government at Europe's internal and external borders". Our guest speaker will talk about migration policies particularly within access to health for irregular migrants and the criminalisation of activism at the borders.
